According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) last year, nearly half a million people in the UK reported work-related stress at a level they felt was making them ill, which is 40% of all reported work-related illness. Some of the most common concerns being, the intensity of work pressure, lack of support from managers and work-related violence, bullying and discrimination. Our work and career can have a knock-on effect to so many areas of our life, impacting our sense of identity, self-esteem, relationships, confidence, causing anxiety and depression, not to mention the financial pressures associated with a wish to protect our livelihood. Getting help with work-related distress can be a huge support and can help us to feel empowered in a position where we might otherwise be feeling overwhelmed and disempowered.
